The ostrich is the largest of the flightless bird and originally from Africa. Because it cannot fly it makes for this loss by the speed it can cover - 75km/hour (43 mph). It is also the tallest and the male can stand up to 2,75m (9 feet) tall. The male has beautiful black feather wile the female only has drab dark gray feathers.

The beak is very tough and thick to be able to withstand the constant hard pecking on the ground. It loves shiny objects and it has the habit of swallowing small stone. This acts like a "ball mill" grinding the food in the stomach.
