Life is a passage

Life is a passage

Life is a long passageway with many doors on either side. Each door has a name tag on it and is only opened if it's description fits your view on life or your curiosity. Not every door is to your advantage however.

This brings me to another point: life is full of decisions. Everything you do, and the resultant consequences, is the result of a decision. Bad decisions (wrong door) can and may result in disastrous results. Correct decisions (right door) end in satisfaction and fulfilment.

You are what you have made yourself to be. Everything you have done in the past has resulted in what you are today, whether you like it or not; whether you agree with me or not! The power to change yourself is in your own hands, not in anybody else's. Change can only come with a decision: once a decision is made you need to implement it immediately, if not, procrastination sets in. If you don't do anything about it NOW it will still be, and remain, in the future! If you find you have entered the wrong door, get out of that room, close and LOCK that door and throw the key away. If you fallen along the way "get up, dust yourself off, and continue further along the passage"

Take control of your life.

If you want to be successful you have to do just that. Be disciplined. You have to discipline yourself in every area of your life - your emotions, your attitude, your physical being, your finances, etc. Success does not come from being haphazard, or by chance. Success comes from hard work, overcoming the obstacles that come your way, how you treat people, etc. Coupled to success and progress are mistakes and misfortunes. It is what you do with them that will determine your future.

Conquer your BAD HABITS or they will conquer you!! Bad habits will always stand in the way of complete success. Conquering your bad habits always starts with a decision, and decision always starts from the mind. In every person is the inbuilt potential to change, so choose to change, and then persevere.

DARE TO CHANGE!

Don't remain as you are! Get out of your comfort zone! Remaining as you are means that you have become stagnant - stagnant waters breed mosquitoes!! Our world is in constant change. Seeds germinate, become plants, they flower, they produce seeds, they germinate ....... Imagine if you still had to go to work by ox-wagon, iron your clothes with an old-fashioned iron, had no electricity, etc. Each year brings on new luxuries, innovations that make our life easier. So I ask the question: Why must you, as a person, stagnate when everything else around you changes for the better? Success comes from growth and growth produces change. Don't remain as you are. Always work to better yourself in all areas of your life.

Can I apply all this to my art?

What we have just discussed needs to be applied to your ART as well!

Decide to change your attitude to the other departments of art, your attitude toward other artists, to explore other channels, to experiment in the areas you have hated up to now, to try out a new medium, etc.

Try all the different doors in the long passageway of the arts. You can always close the doors you do not like. How can you ever say you do not like the taste of pumpkin if you have never had a mouthful to chew on? Even the first few mouthfuls are not enough to make a decision. For years I never could stand the taste of olives and asparagus but now I find them delicious!! Never say never.

The future has the habit of catching up with the past.
