Lovely painting, Patricia    Retta has it right. There are trees on the rignt that are throwing shadows across the path. The edges are just too defined for a path through the forest. Blur them and jagger them a it to make it look natural O0

Thank you Patricia, Val and Mea. I have used wax Crayons instead of pastels in complete ignorance. I did not have a look at the names on the box before starting to paint. :idiot2: Interestingly, I find the result not all that bad.  I shall have to try again with pastels.

Mea I like the brightness in my patinting too. Patricias painting has this wonderful nostalgia in it.

Val, I would love to see your piece.

Here is the result of my two not so great painting days   :eyesclosed: ready to bin it at this point, say the mantra....
'Don't Panic, Let It Dry'  ;D

A few more attempts to fix and this is where I'm going to leave it. Unfortunately I can't seem to get a decent photo today. Light is very bright even inside the boat.
The painting for once actually looks better than the photo!  :heeha:

Cheers, Val

:thankyou: Dennis, Mea, Steve and Patricia.  The photo is actually looking very washed out. I will try to replace it with a better photo. I'm wondering if my camera is copping out...seems to be one of those things that happens frequently down here.  :(

I learned a number of new techniques, even though they don't show well here, and refreshed on some I haven't used in quite some time. I really enjoyed doing this one.   O0

:heeha: I've said this before and I'll say it again, Val, You are WAY too hard on yourself.  :crazy2: This painting is beautiful. :smitten: :smitten:  I, too, like the way you lightened the shadows across the road.  :congrats:

:thankyou: Gita,  :thankyou: Win, much appreciated.

Kathy, it is passable, and that is just because I haven't painted in quite some time. A couple more mediocre splashes and I'll be back on top. I find I'm gravitating back toward impressionism and less detailed pieces. We'll just have to wait and see where it takes me... probably a bit off the deep end!  :crazy2:    :D    ;D
Cheers, Val
