Fingers crossed!

And nice to hear from you BeaSue... I hope something, perhaps painting, started the healing.  :flowers:

Hi - for those that were following my mom's health situation, I have some good news. She finally qualified for the knee replacement surgery on December 5th! The surgery went well, but it was a bit scary at the hospital - her blood pressure soared to 182 and she became quite anemic. But 4 blood transfusions later, and a new medication for the bp, and she was sent home after 10 days.  It's now been a month since the surgery - I spent a week with her after she came home from the hospital and my sister did the same the following week. She's now walking around the house without a walker, in physical therapy 2x/week, will be joining a gym this week and her depression has lifted. My mom sounds happy on the phone - first time in a year!

My stepdad had a bit of a scare - they found a mass on his pancreas. I took him in for a CT scan and it appears it's nothing to be concerned about. He does have diabetes and some dementia, as well as arthritis and back pain, but doing fine for an 84 year old former boxer.

Spent 2 weeks in Puerto Vallarta late Nov/early Dec - it was mostly work getting our new Puerto Vallarta condo ready for renters. But it's all put together and beautiful and our renters are very happy! Now I can't wait to go back in February to just enjoy it!

Anyway, I'm hoping we all have less drama and more joy in 2017!
Cheers,
Sharon

:heeha: So pleased to hear the good news!

We should be in Mexico sometime about mid February and hope to do some land travel. So looking forward to it as I have never been there!  :yippee:

Sharon, so glad your mom's surgery went well and that you will have a wonderful condo to enjoy in February.  You deserve it after all the family scares you've had.  Great about your stepdad too!

Thank you, Lynn! My mom called yesterday - the knee doctor said after her visit with him yesterday that she can graduate from a walker to a cane...and can even drive now! She hasn't been behind the wheel of a car in over 8 months. And even better, for the first time in 3 years, my mom has zero pain in her knee! What a relief for us all!

This just makes me appreciate even more how important our health is to each of us. May this be a healthy year for us all!
Cheers,
Sharon

Thanks, Val - and she sounded like a different person on the phone yesterday! My stepdad is thrilled too - he gets his life back also after having to take care of her for so many months. It's all good!
Cheers,
Sharon

Happy to hear all this Sharon.

Sure been a long road for your mom, step dad, and you.  Wish you three a quiet, pain free, and happy 2017.

Yes, our health is just as good as the present second... take almost nothing to tilted it upside down.
Cheers, Annie
