Thanks, Sis.  I definitely plan to do more "plein air" painting.   I am going to watch Dennis' sketchbooks lesson first.

Thanks, Denise.  It's a 5 x 7 because it's on that page of 6 small practice paintings per page. (Thanks again Cyril for that idea.)  I can cut out that particular panel and mat/frame it since it will make a great gift for a friend.

Thanks, Dennis, Steve, Kathy S, Christina, Steve, Susan, Teresa, Zayn

Thanks, Sharon.  Yes, do try plein air in watercolor.  Except for the sun bobbing in and out, it went really well.

Hi Mea.  This is good.  Your drawing came out very well, which is half of the plein air battle.  The sketchbook video by Dennis is good.  I watched it before I did some travel sketches.  Mea, if you love plein air with WC, they make these great little WC travel kits for this purpose.

Thanks, Lynn.

I always carry my drawing kit with me.  Would be nice to have a WC one, too.  I'll look and see what's out there.

:) MAL, You amaze me with your enthusiasm for drawing and painting, especially this new found interest in plein air artwork!  But the main thing is that you've shown everyone how with much practice your art has been getting better and better!

Mea, you can get a Koi brand Pocket Field Sketch Box from Fisher. They're great with it's own built in palette and water brush :)

Thanks, Denise.  I'll check it out next week or maybe tomorrow - picking up a friend at the airport.

Oh, we hung another exhibit in the Honolulu Country Club yesterday.  Artist Reception is Sunday, June 5 from 5 to 7.

Thanks, Danielle.  Nature put those colors together for me.

Thanks, Liz.  If I get the watercolor field kit in time, I'll take it with us to Kauai - maybe we'll have time after we get our tour group back to their ship.

:painting: I have my mom's watercolor field kit. Now I just need to find the time in daylight hours to go somewhere and try it out. How do you keep your paper wet enough outside to blend your colors? Is wet on wet even possible outside?

KathyS,

I only had that one experience with WC plein air, so cannot really answer your question with authority.  I never ventured more than 10-feet from my front door.

I was using a water brush (inexpensive Royal Langnickel Aqua-Flo) so just gave it a slight squeeze when I needed more water.  (came in a 3-pack of three different size tips for $5.99).  I used a little (5 x 2.5 inches) Winsor Newton travel kit (with 12 half-pans of basic colors ) which some one had given me as a gift.
