Thank you so much Susan, Steve, Linda and Cyril! I sent the photo of the painting to the client and he responded "Uttery amazing!!!  Far exceeds any expectations I had!!!!" As always, I am so grateful for the PB feedback!

Now on to cat number 2!
Cheers,
Sharon

I haven't been on for a while and look what I missed!  Outstanding Sharon!   :smitten: :yippee: :yippee: I can not imagine how difficult it is to paint a black cat in watercolor!! Holy cow!  :not_worthy:

:thankyou: Danielle and Mary Lou! And painting an all black cat is SO difficult!!! Little nervous about the next one. Hoping it goes easier than this one.

Sharon

I'm working on black cat #2 - this one is called Gracie! I've attached the reference photo and my painting so far - it's not done yet - but I find I can see things I need to do on my paintings when I post them on the PB site! Obviously, I need to go darker, probably with a blue wash as with the other cat. Anything else you see please let me know. I won't be working on the whiskers (which are hidden with masking fluid) until I do the background.  This one seems to be a lot more difficult than cat #1! Oh, and I painted the pupils larger per the client's request. Since he took the photo outside, they were quite smaller than usual!

On Gracie's left side of the mouth, it curves out a bit too far. Shorten it up a bit like the right side and you'll have it. Compare Gracie's left pupil to the right, I think the left needs just a minor adjustment. Coming on famously Sharon.    What will the background be this time?

It's going to be a beauty, Sharon.  Val gave very good suggestions.

Sharon Gacies ear tips are a bit pointy maybe if you rounded the tips slightly . I think Gracie is going to be another knock out painting . the owners are going to be delighted with this painting too.

And here's Gracie with the edit suggestions! Any other tweaks I should make??

Not sure what the background color is going to be yet, Val. Once I know that this stage is done I'll send it to them with some background color suggestions. I believe they'll probably choose the same since they have that color in their home. Dang, these cats are not easy to paint!
Cheers,
Sharon

:heeha: The eyes are much improved  O0 good job there!  The line of her mouth still seems a bit too defined, but I'll leave that to you to decide if you want to alter it at all. The ears are much better as well.

This brings back memories of my first toe shoes... mine were black satin. Normally you had to be 14yrs. or older to get your toe shoes, I got mine at 12 because I used to stand so high on my toes my teacher was afraid I'd break a toe! Seems funny now that I never broke a toe walking on the very tips barefoot, and me breaking my toe walking along the quayside!!!  :D     :2funny:
