To all my dear friends here at PB.
Only 2 days ago I heard from the very sad news of the passing from Marsha/Pita. It was a shock and I felt so sad, and even now writing I can't help myself crying.
And the mail I did received had allready made me cry, but those were tears from happiness and also shock and disbelieve. I have read the mail 6 or 7 times before I realised what was written, and what was going to happen..

Thank you all for the wonderful gift of nominating me for the Marsha Fund Scholarship. I am one of the first two that has received this absolutely wonderful and generous gift, made possible by all of you.

I still can't find the words to say 'Thank you' for this warmhearted gift. I have send Nolan a thank you note for you, but I wanted to let you all know in person, how much I am touched by this, how much I appreciate  this wonderful gift. This is a real boost to pick up my brusches again, something I just started to do last month. After all these years I had made this bright happy painting and now, now I can look forward to a year of painting and watching the wonderful classes. Knowing that there are a few people who believe in my skills, who see that with a little help I could be back in no-time, who know that I can do so much more and better then I believe myself, and who believe that I am worth this fund, and I will take care of that I'll be worth it.

Here life is still hard but I stilll love every day, even that day is sometimes almost unbearable, but this wonderful gift, coming from the mind and heart of our dear friend Val, has given my life more sunshine, and a lot of happiness. At the same time it makes me sad that I also have to thank this gift as a memory to one of my dear friends here at PB, Marscha/Pita. So, right now I still have a difficult time with mixed feelings, going from happy tears to very sad tears, :(

But I want you to know, I will take care that I am worth this gift not only in memory of our dear and beloved friend Marsha, not because of your believe in me but most of all for myself, I will try to stay focused, and not give up again. I will make you all, and Marsha, proud and happy with your nomination.

Val, and all of my other friends, Thank you for making this the most precious, wonderful year I always will remember.
Loads of love and big hugs to all of you,
Riya

Riya,

It's so good to see how happy the scholarship has made you.  I doubt that there are very many other websites where the members are so closely connected to each other, yet thousands of miles apart.

Congratulations!!  Happy drawing and painting.

Mea, Danielle and Susan, thank you so much for your warmhearted replies :smitten:  . I still can't believe this happend, but when I just wanted to watch a video from one of the classes, I had too...no pop-up that said I had to be a member,
I am overwhelmed by the amount of classes there are to watch, and so many that I once had put on my list, but I will start with something not too big just to get in the mood again. I missed painting, I even didn't journal anymore, only the first 2 or 3 weeks of a new year, but after that there was always some health issues that made me give up again.
But with so much support, it will be easier to keep going.

I did check my paints last night, some are not possible to open anymore, or are so dry that the paint is like stone. And just this week I received a mail that the only artshop we have here does stop selling artsupplies. They only want to stay open for classes...
Not fun but luckely for me I still have some nice new paints, that look just fine, and all the old, hardened or unable to open I will throw in the special bin we have. So, I will make a new start with my new paint...and put old times behind me

And this morning I did go through all the watercolours, and drawings I have made sofar...to find some very great paintings that surprised me...but they really have my name  :)

I wish all of you a wonderful day, and hopefully I can show a new painting very soon,
  Hugs, Riya

Thank you so much Jill, for your wonderful comment. It will take a while before I really believe that I did get such a wonderful gift. But it doesn't take time to know that I have some very nice friends here. Like Mea says, there is no other community that I joined with such a great, warm heart  :flowers: And I am so happy to be part of it.

Congratulations Riya! I just re-join the group few weeks ago, and what a beautiful surprise to see that you got one of Marsha's scholarships. Congratulations! As of your solidified watercolor paints, pleas do not throw them away. Cut/open the back and use them as dry/block paints. They are good paints dry or soft/paste.

Thank you so much Doina for your wonderful and warmhearted comment,  :flowers: I really feel so blessed and it all starts to settle in. I allready opened so many videos, as if I want to check if it isn't a dream. A wonderful one I just don't want to  awake from :smitten: .

I wished it were watercolours, that wouldn't be a problem at all, I just would cut it open like your said. But its my acrylics that are not to use anymore, And to buy all new is not possible. But I still have some new, well 3 years old but never used, paints that I bought when starting at PB. I only bought three different yellows, three reds and three blues. So that would make it possible to make all the other colours myself. And first I felt sorry that I only was left with these 3 colours and 9 shades...but now I think it will be even more fun to mix really all my colours myself.

So, those paints I really can't use anymore a pitty but hé, reason to start saving some money for artist quality paints, instead of the still good student paints. A few weeks ago I did get some watercolours from a friend, the cheapest you can buy. No problem, as long as the colours are ok. Most of the were ok, and good enough for some small cards. But after I sqeezed them into my palet, and closed that for a next painting session, they turned into something bad...and very smelly. The colours are just fine, the paints are still workable...but every time I open my paletbox I am hit by this very bad smell. This cheap stuff isn't worth the time I spend using them, Even my paintings smell bad, and I can't save them at my room...so I have thrown those, and the stinky paintings, in the bin.

Well, I have to make some late diner, and then I will watch a new video...I think I'll keep it 'simple' and start with the cherries or strawberry.
Have a wonderful relaxed evening Doina,

:yippee: Yay Riya!!! Congratulations on receiving a scholarship  :heeha:    You made such beautiful drawings and paintings in the past and I know there are many more in you.  :cheering:

I cannot take credit for your receiving of the scholarship, it started out as just a simple gesture to a fellow artist and friend and mushroomed to unbelievable proportions thanks to Nolan, Dennis, and our fellow PB members. There is just no place better to be than right here at PaintBasket!

Enjoy yourself and I look forward to seeing your many creations.  O0    :yippee:
