I bought a new tube of oil paint by mistake recently - thought I was buying titanium white, but it was actually "soft mixing white" by Winsor & Newton.

Tried it the other day - love how it gives a professionally blended look.  Bet it would be great to try on something like birch bark.  I'll do some experimenting when I have time.

Has anyone used "soft mixing white?"  Would love some opinions.

Mea, It looks to me that it is a Titanium White with a lower tinting strength.  It is good to use in your color mixing as it is a less expensive white. Super bright highlights are probably best with the regular titanium.

I purchased some WN flake white once for three dollars because the store was having a fire sale. It was old and required me to put lots of medium in it to reconstitute it.  I noticed also that due to the lead content, the tube was noticeably more heavy than the Titanium white.

it is basically Titanium white with extra oil and medium in it to make it flow.
