Win,

Both the squirrel and the horse are well drawn but need more dark contrast to amp them up.

Don't be afraid of the dark.  Took me a long time to learn that the dark makes the difference!

Thanks Mea I must admit I do find it difficult to  "go dark" but am working on it :)

Thanks Nolan I am really enjoying this course and how it is compiled, I know I shall be a long time student of Paint Basket  :)

Happy New Year to all.  :)

Here is my still life excercise,  my first try with different objects was a dismal failure, the suggested box totally did my head in so I abandoned it.  I set this up on a shelf  without a box and chose simpler shapes.  I omitted the writing on the box and ink bottle.

And my outdoor Excercise.  This is a Victorian Garden Bench dated in the 1880's the seat part is not flat it slopes down, not sure if I have managed to convey that. The wheels are really wonky in my drawing  :(

Nice work, Lin.  I love the little Victorian bench.

The reflection of the bottle on the can looks good, but the brightness of the paper stack reflected in the bottle seems too intense, too perfectly shaped.  Maybe it needs to be more distorted looking.

Thanks Mea for your feedback.  Paperstack?  There is a label on the ink bottle do you perhaps mean that?, Its obviously not clearly defined as a label    :)

Oh, Win,  I'm sorry.  Is that a paperstack to the right?  I thought it was a reflection of that.

 :thankyou: Patricia and Sally

Here is my glass of water excercise. I struggled with the Tonal Values on this, there were so many various reflections and shadows.

And my Landscape Exercise.  There was a a thick mist over the mountains, sadly I dont seem to have captured that fact. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

And the flower exercise.

And finally my 10 min Tree for comparison with  the first one. I ran out of time by the time I got to the leaves   ::) . Will have to do another and take maybe an hour or more to complete  :)

Well thats the Lets Draw Course finished. I really enjoyed it and have learnt so much along the way.  :thankyou: Nolan and Denis and everyone  else who has given me encouragement along the way ...... So now it is practice practice practice, and onto the next Course .
