My husband and I love to escape for a long weekend to Carmel once a year - it's only about a 3.5 hour drive from Sacramento.  One year, when we stayed at the Highlands Inn, I snapped this photo of our champagne glasses on the ledge of our patio as the sun was setting. I've always wanted to try my hand at painting this scene...and now I have! Any suggestions to make this better are gladly accepted!
Cheers,
Sharon

Thanks, Lisa! And a good idea about the bubbles - that would be inside of the glasses, correct Val? And I was so immersed in painting this I forgot about the webinar - how was it anyone???

Sharon

Yes the bubbles would be inside the glass.

The webinar was fantastic! I think things are going to be very interesting. Was fun as well, just like the old classes but more of a fact finding mission this time. Also had a chance to ask some painting questions. You'll be able to see it in the replay. Sorry you missed it.
Cheers, Val

Glad the webinar went well - I remember in the past we'd get a reminder email that a class was just beginning...miss those!  Can't wait to watch the rerun...getting ready to add bubbles now!
Cheers,
Sharon

Wonderful and the bubbles makes it stunning.  Now, is this a painting you did for your own enjoyment?

Webinar  :crazy2:  I  new there was something special I wanted to do beside posting the challenge...

Thanks Annie! And I painted it for my own enjoyment, but I do have another solo art show in November so I have to decide if this is show worthy. My husband told me it looked weird having the sun in front of the tree - which my photo shows. So I've painted the tree now in front of the sun - which do you think looks best?

Glad I'm not the only one who zoned out about the webinar!
Cheers,
Sharon

Your husband is correct.  This is an example where a great photograph needs artistic adjustment to make a great painting.

But I was most happy to hear and see that you did a painting that you enjoyed. Saying that it would do well in any future exhibit.  So you will be able to find a balance between doing what you enjoy and taking commissions so nobody forgets you as an artist.

You should be very proud of yourself  :gl2:

Thank you so much, Annie - your comments are quite meaningful to me. And my husband is thrilled you agree with him!! Think I'll frame this and include it in the line up for November!!
