I have gone back to wood. I did not like the smell of the paper burning. So I have redrawn my picture on a 20” x 16” ply board. It is still a work in progress but hope to finish it tomorrow. This is from a photo taken by me, and I used the grid method to transfer it.

Zilpa,

Looking forward to the finished product.  Has a lot of promise even at this stage.

:thankyou: Val and Mea, Val I will need to set up time lapse photography. I am thinking of getting one of those little cammeras that strap onto the forehead. Might look a bit funny to the customer walking into the gallery though.

Chaise Longue

This one took 21 hours. I have got into a routine now. The gallery is open 5 hours a day.i make sure I am creating four of those hours. I used to stop work when people walked in and tried too hard to be the gracious hostess. :2funny: Now I say hi but keep working while trying to assess if they are customers worth stopping for, or just lookers. It works, because they ask more questions about what I am actually doing and are happy because I gave them attention in a more meaningful way, rather than a sales person. I Still do the card demos, but only to those I think are interested and of course to all children.

Again, you amaze me.  Having had that one minor adventure with encaustics, I have great respect that you have ardently pursued this medium.

The visitors to your studio must be intrigued by seeing something that very few people do.

I love telling my friends about "Zilpa, my friend, the encaustic painter."  Always good for another glass of wine to hear all about it.

I love la chaise longue... what a luxurious relaxing feeling. Looking forward to see it finished.

When I first read the sentence about burning paper, I thought... she is going to set up a fire.

Somehow I feel that given the same effort, one would go for the wood.  It is stronger, sturdier, warmer, more lasting, and definitively richer. Wood smells nice and is nice to touch.  I think working on wood makes your art all the most special and unique.

I love what you do.  :flowers:
Cheers, Annie
