I'll apologize in advance. Surely someone has asked this question, but my searches have failed to find it

I've not found any specific classes for colored pencils on this site, but I want to move toward using PrismaColor pencils. What material should I be looking at? I'm a beginner and have not used any other color media.

GLC,

You are in luck.  Look under Watercolor - General Subjects - Watercolor Pencils.  It is one of my favorite lessons. Dennis takes you through the painting of a kudu, an African antelope.

Check out the Forum entries for that lesson and you will see lots of kudu.  You can just tell we all had fun doing this critter.

Go for it!

Mea, are watercolor pencils the same thing as the FC polychroms or the prismacolor pencils or are thy different?

I thought I remember reading on a similar post that Nolan mentioned that a colored pencil class will start later im the year.

Barry,

If it doesn't specifically say "watercolor" on the pencil, I think you can safely assume it is not a watercolor pencil.

I have Prismacolor Water-Soluable Colored Pencils but rarely use them, except to sign my name or add some highlights on a WC painting.

Dennis used them on the four flowers in the Advanced watercolor course.  He used them to enhance specific details.  Looked wonderful with those penciled accents.

This is probably the most comprehensive site on Coloured Pencil.
