I was messing around with a picture that I saw on the internet. It is a picture of a waterfall with the moon above it. I put it on a blue peice of paper. I was not trying to do anything great. In fact I didn't do the thirds rule on it. But I think it came out pretty good. It is a mixture of pencil and charcoal. I used an eraser to do the highlights. It was fun. So what do you think????

Great drawing NHC50. Nice to see you playing around with the coloured papers, it has created a nice eerie effect. You have captured that misty effect in the distance nicely too

What you did here is what is called a symmetrical composition as the one side balances out the other side.

Very interesting piece of work, NHC50. I like it although, now that this forum taught me 'the one third' rule, it does look off balance. LOL

Very nicely done, just the same.

Not every painting should rigidly follow the 1/3 rule. This is just one (symmetrical) of the 17 types of compositions I have identified and talked about in my Composition Made Easy DVD.

Thank you very much for the kind words. I just learned a new term to. Thanks Dennis. I was wondering actually how I would do the 1/3 rule on this drawing.

 Well done NHC50! I love the color you used. Most of the time I remember the 1/3 rule when the painting is finished  ;D
