I am truly humbled by your comments.  Reah, that is hilarious that you pulled forward my first life drawing!!! I totally forgot about that one but now recall how terrified I was to go!  I am totally in love with drawing from life now and attend every second I can.  :smitten: you guys

Lynn you are becoming so good at capturing soft features, the sculpting of the face shines through without adding a lot of detail. (if that makes sense  :D ). Very delicate.

Detailing on her blouse also well done.
Cheers, Val

Thanks so much Mea, Val and Wili.  Val, thanks for noticing the features, or lack thereof.  That is actually the hardest part.  Our teacher always says to let the features "come out of the fog", that is, put in values at the right spot and it will already look like the person without any hard lines.  It is a great challenge each time!

I agree Lynn, a great challenge indeed. That is pretty much the formula I tried to follow in my early portrait attempts. I was always hesitant to push my darks, getting better though.....slowly, very slowly!   :2funny:

Val try this one----this week we had the homework of doing a self-portrait in the mirror and a prezzie awaited the one with the greatest likeness!!!  Sounds like the monthly challenge, eh?  I won but not sure that is a GOOD thing.  Look  how horrible and serious one looks while concentrating on measuring one's own mug.

Next is a charcoal drawing of our angular, sturdy model.

Congratulations, Lynn.  Great drawing of you.  Love the hair.

Wonder if that guy likes being referred to as angular and sturdy???  Kinda cute, too.

Having only your avatar to go by....I'd say you did a good job.  O0

I'd have to buy a decent mirror...the one in the head is a bit wonky in spots. Would make me look like I'd just come out of the fun house  :heeha:     hmmm, upon reflection that might not be a bad thing!  :2funny:
Cheers, Val

Oh Val, yes, please let me know when!!!  The best art shop which is fabulous is David's Art Supply on Arnoult Street in Metairie, a suburb of New Orleans and sort of on the way to Gonzales.  How exciting.  Are you coming soon?

  great life portraits as always Lynn.     I am not sure I would be able to do a self portrait while looking in a mirror, I try not see my flaws when I do look in the mirror so it would be tough to have to look at them with an artists eye ;)
