Welcome Yeodmo, that is a very good tree - my first tree looks like a child drew it. I think that You'll progress quickly.

:thankyou: Barry. Actually the only thing I like and can sort of draw is a tree. I was trying to draw a tree in my neighborhood that has roots that radiate all around the trunk but I think instead it looks like my tree has a bird's foot. I was having trouble drawing the leaves in the front tree so they became "clouds" but I think it looks more like smudges. I saw your first two shaded spheres you posted and seeing how you shaded it before (looks a lot like my shaded sphere) to how you shaded it after watching Nolan convinced me to buy the course. I knew I too could learn how to shade and draw properly following his course, at least I hope so.

Odie,

Hey, everyone has to have a starting point!  Mine was terrible, but now I can draw trees pretty well after taking the course.

You will be a master tree drawer in no time.

:thankyou: all for your kind words.

Day 1: Pencil Sharpening

I'm not sure I did the spear point correctly. It looks more like a flat obelisk.

Day 1: Stroke Exercises

These were harder than they looked. The curved lines were so hard especially the ones with the flicks. Are the curved lines made using the wrists? I tried turning the paper and from ever angle those curved lines were a challenge. My son thought I was drawing topographical maps.

:thankyou: for your nice words but my pencil control leaves much to be desired. I'll have to revisit the pencil stroke worksheet at a later date.

Onwards to a new day.
Day 2: Landscape

Just when I finished the drawing I realized the top right corner got smudged. I don't even know how it happened. I was quite upset but at least it was just the edges of the drawing and not the actual drawing. I wish I knew what happened so I could avoid it next time. I suspect it was the brush I was using to brush away eraser dust. It must of picked up some graphite dust. I tried so hard to gently flick it away. Next time I'll succeed.

Nice work Odie, and I see that you also had some blowing wind issues! It must be that time of year.
