Thanks to all of you for your pointers and encouragement!

I see what you're saying about his snout.  I  have some ideas on how to soften it and vary its darkness/fullness look.  I also see the sharpness I've given the ear shadows and will play with them.

I will work on the updates today and will repost the new and (hopefully) improved Mr. Zebra soon.

As far as the hidden heart, black stripe has it :-).

Check the upper left corner as there is a faint heart in the background, too.

Fun day - I made several changes, including the ear shadows and snout details.  I also added 'fur' to the stripes and some other minor changes.  Does this look better?

Mea - I do see it!  Subliminal heart - didn't even do it on purpose :-).

Thanks for your feedback.  April

April, this Zebra-painting looks so real!.  The fur, the eyes, also the ears. The shadow of the ears on the face gives a good impression of sun shining behind the Zebra.

Actually after reading the comments of the others about the nose, I scrutinized  another Zebra photograph (which I have´nt done before). Maybe the nose would look less "heavier", if the entry of the nostrils showed more greyish/whitish colour. Maybe this would bring in more contrast and make the middle part less solid.

April,

I like Gita's suggestion for the nose.  Otherwise, you have done a great job.

    April, I agree with what Gita has suggested about the nostrils showing more grey/white colouring which especially the right side which doesn't seem to show the nostril too clearly.  It could be the photograph but just lightening it a little will make all the difference. Anyway, you did a wonderful job.

Here's my latest zebra.  I changed the right nostril's shape/shading slightly and added grey to both nostrils (hopefully, enough).  I also widened the blue shading to the left and right areas, directly above his snout, to try and make it look stronger, to support a larger snout - not sure if I accomplished that one :-).  Thanks for your feedback - he has been fun to try and paint.  April

I can feel and hear the Zebra breathing better through those widened nostrils now,  April.  LoL. The Zebra looks simply great!  I suggest you call him Snouty after all that double work you did, April .  ;) O0 O0 O0
