Bryce you remind me of my school days - all my school books had plenty of pencil sketches in them. Pity I never kept them for posterity ::)

With the previous mountain rocks doodle all I had was a weird green ink pen. It took me an hour. I sat in the back of the room in a meeting at the Bank. I gotta quit this job I said, the whole time I was there!!!

I did watch the PNI Rocky Ridge a few times and doodled it once, before I tried the one I show in the previous upload.

Funny fact:    When I was a kid 30 yrs ago I did a load of climbing and the boulder shapes stuck in my head. I love drawing the rocks, I think.

 Either of these would make for a nice self portrait drawing/painting...... just thinking!  >:D

Bryce,

Except for a darker dark inside the folds, I'd say you did a fabulous job on this.

Black was probably not the best choice for the shadow color.

    Bryce, I have just read through this thread of yours and you are so comical. I have really enjoyed reading it all but apart from that, your doodles are excellent and your apple fantastic.  I don't know anything about oils and can't see any mistakes so am none the wiser but still think it is an excellent painting.   Patricia

Thank you for the opportunity to share and the comments you have posted!  I better learn my craft fast because i walked out of a boring bank meeting a week ago and have no intentions of going back if I can help it.   :tickedoff:

Lovely painting Bryce.       I was just wondering what happend to the left side of the apple it could be a bit rounder or maybe the apple was just like that.  For the fold you could add some more value inside the creases.  Hope this helps

Yeah, the apple had a weird shape and discolored spot on it as the light tried to reflect back on that shape. At the time I took it on as a paint what you see challenge.   I have serious issues when painting the last minute details.  I either want to over paint and get photographically correct and half the time ruin the values or stay so loose I don't paint enough details.  I need to find the happy medium.
