Liz...how wonderful for your first attempt.  It's beautiful.
Like Dennis sez...Don't be afraid of the darks.  You can add some more to your shadows.  What you've done already is outstanding, and really shows the piece.
Look forward to seeing your other work as you go along.  It's great see how you put your pictures together....it's a great learning lesson for all of us.

:thankyou: NATALIE AND RETTA for your kind words!  I think I may try ink drawing again sometime since my d-in-law, an artist also, gave me a couple pens and nibs.  I hope that I loosen up a bit with more experience, Retta!

MAL, I get my husband's double orchid lei every year after his annual credit union banquet picture-taking for directors. Then we get home from the Halekoa Hotel, a working girl upstairs is gifted it which she wears to work the next day!  She even emailed us a photo happily wearing his lei!
How's that for recycling!   ;D

I think the best part of getting a beautiful lei is picking the person who will get it next!

You're so akamai, MAL!  I LOVE flowers and leis, especially.  If it's close to my mom's birthday I take it to her grave. So I tease my husband who likes to give it to Laurie, a working girl upstairs.  We found out that she loves leis, also!
