Mary Lou,

Love the patio scene.  Every detail is so beautifully executed.

Wish I were sitting there to have a cup of tea with you (or a glass of wine).

Mary lou this is beautifull,  :yippee:   We need a bit of this here right now in Canada,  it is so cold lately.  A nice sit down with you ,Mea and the rest of PB that want to have a tea in that nice set up scene.

Thank you so much Mea and Danielle.  Yes, it would be lovely to sit there with you and enjoy a tea or glass of wine. :)   Boy, we sure could use it here too Danielle.  I am looking at about 6 inches of new snow this morning and 12 degrees! Brrrrrrr. :cold:

I am praying that the cold will finally go away for my friends up north and in Canada.
Beautiful colorful paintings are a comfort for those housebound from the cold.
Mary Lou this painting does just that.

Nice job, Mary Lou - I painted this one before and the original sold and I've also sold a print - it's such a fabulous scene and draws people in.  One thing that helped me a lot was the PB advice to darken behind the left shutter, the inside of the room,  as well as darken the left side shadings of the pots. Just those few tweaks added so much depth to my painting...Really glad someone else tried this photo - it should be a monthly challenge!
Cheers,
Sharon

Thank you Sharon, You know I had to laugh because when I did this I looked in my gallery thinking I did this before.  I knew I saw it somewhere!  You did an excellent job on it.

As far as shading the left shutter, in my painting the sun is coming from the right and and a bit low and I think that the shutter is close to the wall and wouldn't cast a shadow.  I darkened the shadows on all the flower pots, they were there but maybe not obvious enough.   Also I added shadows behind the ladder and plants and the items on the window sill.  In my painting this is a glass window not a look into the room...so I did not darken it.  Thanks so much for your suggestions.  Here is the tweaked painting:

Thanks Sharon, Yes, we seem to be attracted to the same subjects.  I remembered this scene from somewhere and couldn't place it .. This was a fun subject.
