Thanks Danielle and Bhavna.  Danielle, the water is only a bit darker.  I was a little hesitant in making darker as I was not sure I could blend it in with what was there.

:thankyou: Danielle.  I fixed the windows.  I added balconies and since this is in the shade, I think it worked out okay.  At least my eyes do not go there anymore.   Thanks everyone...I am pleased with this now.

Mary Lou,

This is lovely.  It could have easily been one of Sharon's "Destinations."

Mary Lou - you are the PB Pen And Ink master artist - I love every time I see you post one of these on the website. This is a great subject for your painting and you've captured this beautifully.  I see why Danielle is suggesting a bit more depth to the water - not sure how one does that with this medium but can you add some color reflections from the walls into the water?  Also, could you darken the first doorway on the left to give that more depth? I think the windows and the gondoliers are perfect!
Cheers,
Sharon

Sharon, thank you.  I finally got the time to address this again.  I drummed up the courage and did darken the water.  (I was so afraid of matching the color but I got close enough, I think). The reflections were already present in the water but I darkened them also.   I also  darkened the first doorway and added a bit darker shadows here and there.  I hope it looks better now.  Unfortunately the digital photo does not do the colors justice.

Mary Lou,

This is really a beautiful painting.  Darkening the foreground, especially the doorway, really gave it life. It definitely shows how much time and effort you put into it.

So wonderful!

Thanks so much Mea.  I really was afraid to keep touching this but so glad I did and took everyone advice.  I thank all of you for the encouragement

I'm always afraid to darken shadows as well, but when I do, it always improves my paintings, as this did for you! Great job!
Cheers,
Sharon

Thank you Sharon, yes, it is the one thing that I try and do but often not dark enough.

Thanks Nina!  I appreciate it!
