    Hello All,
I was asked by a member for information regarding the FAA (Fine Art America) site. I know only a little about it and would be interested hearing from anyone who is or may know someone who is actively using it.
Thanks in advance for any insights you can give.
Cheers, Moi !!!  :heeha:

Thanks for posting this, Val.  :)  I hope we get some first-hand (or second-hand) accounts.

I am thinking of trying to sell some of my work on Fine Art America. The proceeds would go to the cancer hospital that has given me such great care. But first I need to get busy producing some non-class paintings that I can make available.

Let me know if/when you take the plunge, Val!

I did it! Just made some of my paintings available on FAA. The process was pretty easy.

:congrats:   Good on you Susan! The more exposure the better. I'm pleased to see some of my favourite paintings on display!  O0

You know it's rather odd, I just found out about an artist friend who is using FAA but didn't want to tell friends...
in case it didn't work.  ???   I think we've straightened out that line of thinking!     :yippee:

All the best Susan, you are officially 'out there'!!!
Cheers, Val

Thanks so much! Marketing is probably not one of our favorite things to do, is it? But if people don't know about one's work, then nothing gets sold. I have long resisted doing this, but since I am donating half of the proceeds to the cancer center that takes care of me, that makes it easier.

Now I must get back to  :painting:

Oh, Susan, I am so proud of you.  Your work is gorgeous.

My favorites are Hope for Spring, Through the Window, and Slices.

Are they all different sizes?

Thanks, Mea. Yes, the originals are different sizes. When you click on an image, you can see the size & price of the original painting (if it is for sale) in the column of text on the right-hand side.

Susan,

What form, resolution, etc. do you need in order for a digital file to be good enough to make the prints that FFA uses?  Do they establish the price and the items that will bear the print?  Do they do all the fulfillment?

Just curious.

Mea, you can take photos with a 5, 10, or 20 megapixel camera. I really don't know what my camera is! But it seemed to be fine for FAA. The only thing they will not let you do is enlarge the photo in Photoshop. It should be a jpg.

You set the price you want to get for each size print. If you are uploading multiple photos, you can set your default prices, and then all your prints will be similarly priced. FAA adds a VERY small commission to the prices you set. I think they make most of their money on volume and on matting and framing, if a customer wants that. They handle fulfillment.

If you want to sell original paintings, you can indicate that and set your price. You handle the fulfillment for originals, and FAA doesn't charge you anything for those sales.

Hope this helps!  Oh, my boat painting is in the watercolor section here: Low Tide at Sunset.

Thanks, Susan.  I am going to look into it.  Everything you've said sounds very reasonable.

Thank you for sharing.

You're welcome, Mea.  :flowers: It costs you nothing, except a little time to figure things out and upload your photos. Very helpful, too, if you have a Facebook account, so you can spread the word. They also encourage you to set up a Facebook Fan Page, which I knew nothing about, but did this morning without too much difficulty.
