Her name is Mandy.  I use to care for her and I loved her so much.  I have also done this in Pastel

I haven't worked in pastels so I am not sure if it is why the colours appear a bit washed on the hands and face (compared to the hair).    I do love the overall portrait.  Well done!

Excellent.

Kelley, I suspect it is the exposure of the camera that was not quite right at the taking of the photo.

Ella, I commented on the eyes of the painting of Ted in another post and here you have them right. Compare the two.

Yes Dennis, it was the camera settings.  On the painting, the pupils are much darker.  I am still new at taking photos but will get better with everyone's feedback.  ;)

Lovely Ella. When working with pastels do you blend/mix your skin tones or use a (skintone colour) ready made?

Hi there and thanks for the feedback.  Val, with Pastel you have to buy the different colors.  You get eg. white, various tones of red, yellow, blue, grey, greens and even various tones of black!  You have a range of tones to choose from so you see the 'student' pack of Pastels is just for learning to work with the medium.  Once you have established which color to use for what, you do the different strokes on the paper next to each other.  Then only you start with a 'blending' tool.  I love this tool and use it to pick up Pastel and even paint tiny details with it.  O dear, before I take up too much of your time, let me say buy. :smitten:

Thanks for that Ella, I think pastels will be something left for much later down the road. Still have much to learn with w/c, acrylics and graphite.

Thanks for clarifying Dennis and Ella. I was hoping that was the case.  Very well done.

I love the expression you've captured, that is a very difficult thing to do. Beautiful Ella!

I love her smile Ella and i think you have done a wonderful job , i have done a few works in pastel and did a dog portrait for a friend a few years ago and it won first prize at our local show, it is good to try different mediums and i enjoy the challenges.
