You have done really well, Rick!No one would ever believe this is your first watercolor. I appreciated watching your steps along the way, which should be very encouraging for a beginning watercolor painter.

Way to go, Rick!!! They look good. Quite a challenge to take an oil painting lesson and change it to watercolour!!!

Oh, wow. Thanks, guys.
I have dabbled in acrylics and in oils so I do know a little bit
I'm liking these watercolors, Christina. They seem so much easier to work with, to me anyway.

:thankyou: Germa.
I believe this is the best I can do at this level of watercolor knowledge I'm at. I believe I need to improve my skills to do any better, and that'll take some time.
I'm just a beginner and this is my first painting.

OK, Val. I'm finished.
Waddaya think?

I know you're new to this; that's why I want to encourage you to not paint 'just' good, but practise till it becomes near to perfect; I think you can!

Grindre,

You are off to a good start.  I'm sure it looks even better than it does in the photo.

My next attempt will be rocks and wood.  :painting: I don't care for flowers, people or animals. I have no interest in them.

Brilliant Rick  O0   You've shown a real aptitude for working your w/c with layering, shading, even some lifting. The groundwork is there, now just keep practicing and you are going to create some truly impressive works.  :congrats:

 Now once I get some    I'll see if I can figure out how to get this tube of paint open.....where's the can opener......
Cheers, Val

:thankyou: Val.  You noticed all the aspects I went through. I'm impressed with your knowledge. I forget how long you've been painting, tho.
Sounds like mom is doing a little better now.  O0

I scanned this painting for a sharper clearer image and touched up the upper left corner. (It was boo booed up there  :) ) I also 'framed' it in red.

No comments are necessary.

Nice work, Rick.  The red border matches perfectly.

Looking good Rick  O0   I would still go a bit darker on the shadow side of the stems, and a bit darker on the cast shadow right up close to the cherries. Great job.

Thanks, you two, but I'm not happy with it either. Remember, it was only a practice run to begin with. I want to do the whole thing over again on its own 'canvas' and not on the practice paper.
I'm stuck right now on skies and birch trees. I can't quite get 'em down, yet, so cherries gotta go on hold for a bit longer.

Thanks everybody.
I sold this one today for $5. I guess I am now a professional painter after selling two paintings in one day, huh? :yippee:
