Natalie,

This little bird is so cute.  I admire your skill with pen and ink.  I have not tried it yet.

Very well done Natalie.
Mea!  You should try pen and ink.  I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Excellent, Jill       Just needs a bit more shading in the back and a bit for the belly shadow to round it off O0

  O0 O0 Oh Natalie. . . my favourite bird and you have done it so very well!! Congratulations!!!
We have Flickers come to our bird feeder and it's so much fun to watch them eat upside down. . . . .it's those amazing tail feathers that allow them to do that!!!
I live to draw and paint, it a good thing that I don't have to draw and paint to live!

Hmmm... I wonder if eating upside down would be a good diet trick.

I decided to do a little experiment and add watercolour to the
'Northern Flicker'

It wasn't the best idea as I wasn't using watercolour paper.
I only had my 110 lb. acid free white paper sketchbook.
The shiny paper is great for pen and ink but, buckles terribly
when water is add.  Oh well lesson learned.

I see the 'Northern Flicker' for 10 months of
the year. They are very skittish and approx. the size of a dove.

I guess I have produced my first mix media painting.

This looks really great. A good learning experience for next time with the paper.

May Lynn,

Glad you shared the info about the paper.  Good to know.

Your flicker in color looks quite good despite the paper problem.

Nicely done May Lynn.  I think this would look good on arches hot press paper.
