Well some of you know I hate to paint rocks , but look what I tried as an attempt without Dennis :2funny:
This is a small falls near Minnewaska NY.  It was located near a power plant that powered some beautiful cliff hotels.  The Mohonk house was the sister to Minnewaska which burnt to the ground many years ago. I went hiking with my daughter and took her off the beaten path.  It had been 30 years since I had been there as a child so it was really nice to visit the area. The water was low and this is the small fall. The larger fall we couldn't climb down from safely, but we did sit and watch a doe come down to the stream below for a drink.

Lisa,

This is a lovely scene.  I can see why you wanted to share it with your daughter.  You captured it beautifully.

My only suggestion would be to make the top waterfall look less rectangular (boxy?) - kind of need a bit more curves coming down from the top of the falls (as in the photo).

Otherwise, I could sit and look at it all day.

:thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou: Natalie,Fiona,Danielle,Deborah,Patricia,Christina and Mea.
It really is hard to train your eye to see things the right way.  It's much easier to follow along with Dennis or Nolan!  It's a little scary posting sometimes because I am surrounded by so much talent on this forum but  if I don't post then I won't get the help I need to improve.  So thank you all again.

Mea I think you wanted me to round out the cliff on the left of the waterfall, it looked pretty square.  I  rounded it a little, I also added shadows under the bushes and darkened some of the other shadows.  I think it looks better.

Lisa Gale,

This is more natural-looking now.  I've learned to not be afraid to post something because we all feel the same way - we can only get better when someone gives us a suggestion to make a painting look better.
