;D Howdy everyone. . . . . .I'm just letting you all know that I am here, alive and drawing but too busy with the summer stuff. . . . gardening (read that as  weed pulling), unannounced and uninvited visitors, then there was good old hurricane Arthur . . .but he was awhile ago,  to answer or even read all the posts. Sigh. . . :(
There is some really terrific art work being done here and I have just had a glimpse of some of it as I flip through early in the a.m. (before anyone knows I am awake).
I notice that the quality (skill level) of the artwork has improved tremendously since I first joined the PB family. This must make both of you, Dennis & Nolan, so very very proud!!!

Hey, Bev.  We've missed you.  It's hard to keep Val under control w/o you here to supervise.

Looking forward to seeing what you will paint next.

Hi Bev,
Good to hear you're still drawing and painting. When you find time we'd love to see some of your stuff.

Bev, it is so lovely to hear from you.  I understand exactly what you are saying as my time for art has also been drastically reduced and will continue until September when school resumes.  Thanks for checking in.   Patricia

Nolan. . . I love your new avatar. . . . !! Too cool and I do spray the darn weeds and they just keep coming back again!! This time we dug them all out of the rose bed, laid down a layer of black plastic then a layer of bark mulch. . . . .that should keep them at bay for awhile!!!
Okay, back to the rest of the garden and then back to my drawing board. . . . .I have a very difficult portrait on hand and have been  :pullhair: :'(  over it for awhile now. Sigh. . . .

This is my DH at 4 yrs and his first girlfriend who was 5 years old. It's typical photography of the times. C 1950's, where people made you look directly into the sunlight. . . .argghh!!!
I cropped it to eliminate most of the clothing and the ugly BG, then scanned it to make it big enough to see  ;D
The outline sketch is done and I have started to shade in Doug's face and am working on his eyes. . . .what I can see of them. . . .it's hard boring work so far and for his left eye, I just have to use my imagination.
Wouldn't you know it, he just has to have this one!!! Aacckkk :pullhair:

Any suggestions comments, etc. would be gratefully accepted, but please remember, murder is still illegal in this Country.  :2funny:

The original picture is not very much larger than this one.

Bev,

What a precious photo.  Looks like a challenge, but will be well worth it when done.

Hi Bev, long time no see.  :eyesclosed: Nice to have you back.   Are you also painting his  X girlfriend ?  I suppose you are not of the jealous type. :2funny: :2funny:  you will do a great job.

Hi everyone. . . the finished portrait will be 11" X 8" I'm trying to keep it mostly just the faces. You can probably see my cross marks where the matts will go. . . . unless, Nolan, you think I should be working on a larger piece of paper. . . .???
What do my fellow artists think. . . .should I be working on larger paper, leaving more room around the faces? Now that I've looked at it some more I'm wondering. . . .hummmmm???

I haven't gotten very far so not much lost if I start again!
Okay, let me know what you all are thinking. . . . I can take it!!!

it is a bit small for two faces, but so far so good, so why not complete the one face and judge from there O0
