I hope this is how I say Hello as I couldn't seem to find the way into 'about me'. I am retired and
am living in Perth West Australia with my wife,  although having sketched for as long as I can remember and used clay to sculpt all sorts of Sfx figures for film,Tvc's and Display for many years ,for a living, I only took up Acrylic painting at the end of 2009, I loved the forgiving qualities of the medium and the immediacy,I to was introduced to this site by Richard Robinson and I must thank him as I am having fun exploring the site and watching the 'how to' videos, I hope to try Oils soon but I am still trying to master Acrylics at the moment not to mention the Tech side of this site. : )

Thanks for the "official" intro Bill Dennis  ;D

The techniques used to do the actual painting in oils and acrylics are the same so you will learn a lot from the live shows too O0

I started with acrylics way before oils and because of the drying factor I  started to paint fast in order to be able to blend the colours properly. This habit has enable me to also paint fast in oils.

Most of my paintings are  done "a la prima" - in other words, wet in wet, in one sitting. I normally start and then don't stop until I have finished the painting even for all the fine details. Although it's an old technique I've refined it to my style of painting and of course, lot of experience.

I once did a commission for a customer on a stretched canvas 1.5m x 2.0m of a landscape with clouds, mountains, trees, river, stone bridge and all the normal grass foreground in, wait for it ......8 hours! All the normal detail is as I do in the smaller paintings.
