Lynn, I dream of the day that I will paint as poorly as you!       ;D   I'm serious.
Cheers, Val

Oh Val, you are funny but thanks so much for the high, high compliment!  If I were in guatemala I would be looking you up for some of those  :painting:  lessons you've been giving.  I think my problem seems to be that I get slavishly tied to the image i am painting and end up with something that is dullishly realistic, at least to my eye.  Very hard for me to put my own twist on things or to be loose enough to forget the details if you know what I mean.

When at jazzfest this year took a number of pictures of children dancing.  Today I had the idea of doing several colorful pastel sketches of them the same size and maybe hanging them together.  Here is my first.  C&C always needed.

Love the vivid color and sense of movement.

My only concern is that the shadow looks like a cat to me.  Poor cat - looks like the girl is stepping on it.

I am the same way, Lynn.  I try to make everything exactly as I see it.  Gotta loosen up and be creative.

Dennis--Thanks so much for the encouragement.  I always appreciate your feedback!
Mea--Thanks.  I'll relook at her shadow!
Thanks Jay, glad you can empathize.  Don't really want to be a whiner.  I think I need to just take a lot more chances and not worry about the outcome right now!
Natalie--Yes, I want her braids too and her spirit as well!

Lynn,

What a delightful portrait.   All her facial features look great.  Love the blue hue of her sweater.

Someone is going to be very happy with this.
