Hi I have introduced my brother-in-law to Paint Basket as he paints with oils.  I have made him my buddy and he has now done the same.  But my question is what does having him as a buddy (or anyone) actually do?  ;D

A buddy is more than a friend.

He or she "sticks closer than a brother" in the sense that that person keeps a watchful eye over you to see that you do all you say you will be doing and not shirk. He motivates you and builds you up in character etc. If you are that person's buddy then you will be doing the same for and to him.

Just as Nolan and I are buddies. I watch him and he watches me :heeha:  :knuppel2:

:thankyou:  Dennis ;D  :2funny: ok then so it doesn't show you that your buddy is online when he comes on or pop up with any posts they have done or anything like that  :)

If you go to the bottom of the forum page, if any of your buddies are online, their name will show up in bold letters. Then you can use the PM like a chat to help each other out. Very     !!!

I can't find where you sign up for a buddy.  I'm buddy-less.  I want a buddy!

Duh - I just adjusted my account (or was it profile?) so that my signature would show up automatically, but it did not in the test message I sent about wanting a buddy.

Do I have to log out first for the change to become effective?

Look at the very bottom of your message just below a light blue line. Your name is there!  ;)

To make someone your buddy, go to that person's profile/gallery page. Below their avatar you'll see a line that says 'add as buddy'. Just click on it or tick a box...can't remember which! Duh... I've done it so many times you'd think I'd remember!      :2funny:      Anyway, do that... and voila! It's done!

OK, Val, I persevered and found both where to lock on to a buddy and where to find the blue line.  I thought that "signature" meant it would automatically sign my name for me.  DUH!  Anyway, I did put a quote under the blue line.

I feel so accomplished today!!

Good on you Mea.  If you look at the bottom of my messages, it has a sign off with my name, and a quote. Sometimes having your name in the end of the message confuses who is writing the message and who it's about!  Plus .... less typing for me!  ;D

:thankyou: Val that is exactly what I meant I hadn't seen that before.   :flowers: I am sure that will be useful.  Mea I hope you don't mind but I added you as a buddy :)

Val,

I do not see the signature line on this message you wrote.  I've seen it a few times with others, though.

Could it be because I am viewing them in the "100 most recent posts" section?

Yup, Val

I just went to the Forum page and opened this topic and now see the signature section on the messages.

I rarely read by topic.  I like the "quick and dirty" ease of the 100 most recent messages.

Thanks for hanging in with me to the bitter end on this thread.

All my questions are answered now.  You can take the rest of the day off.
