Thought I'd share a painting in progress.
This one is a very custom Honda with 6 yes SIX cylinders. The bike is white as are the wheels which kind of threw me in a loop. What color background to use? I wanted a dark area behing the gas tank, seat and fairing to make the white jump out but I also wanted a lighter area behing the black engine and tires to make them jump. I was flicking through some photo's I took last year out in the desert near here and looked in the background of one and saw the perfect solution.
Here's the original picture
I pulled out all the lessons that Nolan gave and used fading in the blue sky, sky blue in the mountains for atmospheric perspective and I'm planning on using the splatter techniques to add texture to the sand in the forecground. That and a nice deep shadow under the bike is going to really make a nice painting.
And then I got a call today for another commission resulting from my ETSY page and website!
