Hello all,

I'm in the early stages of the Let's Draw Course (day 3) and I thought I would post some pics to see how I'm doing.

Here is my erased landscape

And here's my tonal chart

I think the paper I used was too thin and cheap. I really had to work on the dark values to get them as dark as I wanted. It's like the paper hardly had any tooth. I got some better paper so I'll probably redo the tonal chart.

I know I need to work on keeping my fingerprints off of my drawings. :uglystupid2:

I did a couple of stroke exercise sheet too, but they weren't around when I was scanning these in.

Looks like you are off to a good start with your drawing course, Aaron.  Took me a month to find the time to get to Day #9.  Looks like you'll catch up to me by the end of the week.

Thanks, Mea and Val!

Here's my second try at the ball.

It's so-so, but at least it's better then the first one.

I'm looking forward to the berries!

Thanks Nolan!

I finally did my berries drawing.

I didn't do too well on the berries....need more practice with spheres. I also took the liberty of changing the shadows of the lower berries to what seemed a more realistic position to me. I think they could use some more feathering though.

I just noticed that my watermark was automatically applied after I resized the image in Lightroom.(bottom left) ;D I'll have to remember to turn that off next time.

Hi Aaron

I am up to day 4 today of the Lets Draw course and loving it.  I am hoping the berries are soon.

Yours look great,   I haven't done them yet,  , but I am wondering about the right hand leaf beside the berries.  It seems to get lost in the shadow.  Is it supposed to?  I feel maybe the bottom line needs defining.

I see what you mean. On the example drawing there isn't a shadow on the bottom part of the leaf at all, but it seemed to me that there should be. (I could be wrong of course, and I don't recommend following my example :)) The bottom edge kinda got lost a little too much in the shadow I created. It would be easy to fix I think.

Your just two days away from the berries. Have fun!

Good to know Nolan! And just so you know....I'm not looking for just praise from you and anyone else. If you tell me of something I did wrong I won't be offended at you.

Thanks Aaron.  Feel free to comment on my upcoming berries  ;D

Couldn't do day 4 today instead spent the day in hospital with my teenage son waiting for him to have an operation to remove three plates from his collarbone after a bad break a few months before Christmas.  So I used the time to redo the landscape with an eraser seeing how I couldn't do any lessons so wasn't a complete waste of artistic time  8) unfortunately they ran out of time so we were sent home to go back another day  :tickedoff:  and I never got time to go art supply shopping   :knuppel2:  :2funny:
