I'm not really sure exactly where I should be posting this, as it is Coloured Pencil to start, with Pastels over top, then more CP's and then some graphite just for fun!!
All the fur techniques are from the lessons Nolan taught on How to Draw Dogs, but I'm not sure how welcome we would be over there. . .  :2funny:
Oops. . .  forgot to say that the ground is black matt board.

Oh, Bev S, this is a pretty kitty.  Wow, incredibly lifelike.  So soft and delicate.  Amazing eyes.

Love your little kitty. You did a wonderful job on his eyes and nose.  Really life like.

    Bev, kitty is adorable.  You have done him/her so well.  We should start a "Kitty Drawings" topic so that we can all post our cat drawings.  I have done one already but today received my pastel pencils so I will be trying them out by drawing some more cats and will post when I am done.  Patricia

Wow, Bev, you've done a fabulous job on the kitty!        Ohhhh, those beautiful eyes!!!   O0

Just a thought,--- how about making the body of the cat come out more toward the edges of the page?  If I were you, I would keep going and make the body larger.

I was shocked to see that you put pastel over coloured pencil.  I tried that recently and it works!

:thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou:  Thank You so much EVERYONE for all your kind, thoughtful and encouraging remarks!!
Jenny. . .he is framed, my hubby grabbed him up so I couldn't fiddle any more & framed him!
Lillian. . . I agree with you and I agonized about making the body larger, I even consulted my MN buddy but before I could get to fiddling & adding any more fur, well. . . . you know what happened!!! LOL!!
One note that Dennis gave me, pastel goes over CP. . . IF, you haven't burnished the CP.
Steven. . . . . agreed LOL!
Patricia. . . . . I think you should suggest that to the powers that be and  get a How to Draw Cats Class going. . . after all, Nolan LOVES cats!!! (so a little bird told me!)
Val. . . thanks, but I really need to get back to shading that dang ball. . .wish I could rock 'n' roll that thing!
Jill, Ninjgirl and Mea. . . .thank you for liking my little kitty. . . the eyes really are the important part, aren't they?

Bev, I missed this one.  Absolutely wonderfull!!!Did you do kitty's coat in mostly pastel?  Agree with you and Lillian about taking the drawing all the way down and out.  Hope you frame this one.

Thank you Lynn. . . I would change him, but he is already framed and there is no way my hubby "the framer" would ever ever let me take the cat off the wall and work on him again!! Next time though I'll keep that thought in mind!!

Nolan where are you?   I hope you are reading/listening.  Bev has suggested in her post that we start a "How to draw Cats" course.  How about teaching us to draw cats???  That would be a darned good idea I think. Something on the lines of the dog's course would be splendid.  Give it some thought, put it out to the forum members and let's see what comes of it.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.  I, for one, would sign up in a heartbeat.
