Well everyone,

In my progress towards an Internet presence, I have registered a domain which should be active for me to work on within 48 hours.

creativewithcolour.com is now registered and currently sits as Under Construction and once it is active I can at least set up a bit of an info place holder.

Anyway, here's the logo / masthead I have designed. I like it.

Let me know what you think and also I'll keep you posted on how things go.

It is great that you are moving along.

My opinion on the logo, it is creative with color. You need to add more color and more pizazz. It needs to pop and scream 'look at me' I the creative one with all the colors. Do I make sense?

Dear Imbatman;

I agree with Maryna, the background color of the sandwich board should be much more vibrant,
similar to your 'Nature Series'.  If anyone knows how to make color sing you certainly do!!!  :gl:

Hmm,

I do understand what you mean, but there is a thing about limiting colours and simplicity in logos.

Obviously it would need major clean up work (probably from scratch in Vector program instead of raster based) but as a general idea here is another possibility. Remember very rough...
Quick and Dirty possibility

What does everyone think? I am open to suggestions.

Hi Batman .............  I like this version the best.  The only thing I don't understand is what is written on the canvas.  Please forgive me if I have missed something here.  All the best with your venture and Happy New Year to you.  :)

Hi Didwaud

Thanks for the input.

My signature (Chris) is written on the canvas.

Thanks for the input.

I think the purple on the left balances the purple text on the right now blah blah blah (insert classically trained designer bulls**t here).

I did watch (a lynda.com for anyone interested) video about designing logos and simplicity was what I was striving for.

The white "blank canvas" seemed like a good idea, but creating a presence is about the overall effect, not the element, by element breakdown.

Illustrator baby, here I come. Dammit, I'm a programmer not a designer! But Bradman didn't become "THE" name in cricket by having someone else hit the ball for him. (btw inside joke for those of us living in cricket playing nations)

My last pondering is white signature or yellow... Guess I jump that hurdle when I get to it.

By the way don't click on the link to my site yet. You just get a "to be developed" message and advertising revenue for a company I am already paying cash to have a site with. I get a "walkthrough" phone call in two days (New Years in US tomorrow, today, whenever) where they guide me through the process.

Got the best bang for buck deal for 3 years though, so can't complain.

Wow...Good luck, B'Man.  That's very exciting and will open up a "whole bunch" for you! I have my fingers crossed that it takes right off, and you get your 'name' and your wonderful art out there.

Well everyone,

Exciting news, I have just published the starting work on my www.creativewithcolour.com website! So it is live baby live.

At the moment it is just to tell people a little about myself and showcase some of my works. The full Nature Series gallery is in place.

With all my job applying and the time that takes. And the fact that I'm a computer programmer, not a designer, it's going to take some time to get the site to where I want it to go, but we'll get there.

I'm working on a Contacts Page now. Then hopefully progress to an online store!

Anyway, let me know what you think and if you think there are any problems with it. But just remember though it is just a starting point.

Thanks Steven. I'm limited by my hosting package (due to cash) to only being able to utilise 6 pages, but down the track (after selling a few paintings :2funny: ) I can upgrade to a premium package for $300 for another 36 months which allows unlimited pages and adds a few bells and whistles.

The current package immediately provides e-commerce straight out of the box, but it would take up another page, or maybe I could integrate it into the gallery pages themselves. A bit early to have investigated that yet.

I'm in the process of creating a cataloging system to uniquely number all my work that I can use too. It uses a bit of a formula that since I know it, I can just look at the number and instantly know exactly when it was created, without ever really dating the painting itself.
Us programmers are a funny bunch, always needing to create complicated ways to do something simply. :2funny:

For now the numbering will just be held in an Excel Sheet, but I intend to write an application that can automatically do the job for me.

And of course I need to design myself a nice unique Certificate of Authenticity to go with each painting to have that individual numbering and be personally signed.

Time, time, time...
