Excellent job Nina  O0 I actually remembered to lift out the puddles...it really works! Makes a switch for Dennis to have caulies and I didn't!  :2funny: Really though, the only one I find a bit bothersome is the one at the top of the flower. The others just seem part of the background. You even got the colours in their proper spots! I am going to have an incredibly l-o-n-g learning curve here.

Super job Nina.

Cheers, Val

Wow guys, wonderful work and not many smudges.  I look like pig pen.  How did Dennis stay so clean.  I'll bet his clothes are arranged by color in his closet :) :) .  Great class Dennis. Well, I copied the wrong flower so ended up doing both, rather badly and out of the lines.  My pastels are so soft they just crumble in my hands but I noticed that those little pieces are quite useful and have good edges!

Great job everyone.
Question: I joined in for the last hour--did Dennis use any masking fluid? I will be using only watercolors on mine. I cannot use pastels without using a mask and that is no fun. (COPD)
I will wait for the replay but wanted to get a head start on the masking.

 :thankyou: my friends the  :painting:

No masking for this unless you want to, Carol - it wasn't too hard to paint around.

Peeps! I am so impressed by all of your day lilies. So sorry I had to leave the class so early. I am very much looking forward to the replay.

Our Christmas (CDS release) concert was a great success with standing room only.

Hello, everybody,

This is my first try to paint along. Enjoyed the class very much. :smitten: In the beginning, I  wasn't totally satisfied with my background, so I decided to correct it with pastels. The final image pleasantly surprised me. Looking forward to more pastel lessons.

Thank you very much Dennis for such a wonderful class.

Great job everyone. :smitten:

All the best.  :flowers:

Dennis, how do I protect my painting at this stage before I have fixative (still need to get) I really don't want it smudging all over.

I enjoyed this so much - being part of the Paint Basket live class environment yet again.  I learnt that I'm not the tidy worker when it comes to pastels and I have a LOT to learn!  Couldn't I rather use oil pastels on the w/c Dennis? I really had an immense battle with the dust LOL cleaning my desk, computer, hands, keyboard and everything in a meter radius afterwards! Practice needed... also because I found that having lost the definition in my drawing I automatically went for the pen and put the lines back.. sorry Dennis.  Not sticking to the rules and learning the technique..  Anyway, here's my paint-along

Here is the 2nd Lilly.

Ok it is no secret that I need a lot of practise on using pastels, but I believe with Dennis's classes next year we all will be able to master it.

    Erika, nice job.  The outlining defines the day lily beautifully.  That is what happened to my painting, I lost all the lines and everything was mish-mashed together into one big blob.  I am going to have another go at it for as Maryna said "Pastels are not going to defeat me" either!!

Nice work on your second Lily Maryna.  Patricia

What a fantastic job you ladies did on the day lily.  I am sorry that I missed the lesson and am looking forward to the replay.  I learned how addicted I am to PB when I attempted to log in on my iPhone during my granddaughters birthday party.  Unfortunately had lousy wifi:)
