Before beginning my own foray into watercolors, my husband and I collected art from various places. Besides buying from the artist and galleries, the best place to find treasures was at our local thrift stores around the area.  We have many paintings from established and successful artists, their work abandoned by someone who was unaware of their value.

My newest find is this amazing watercolor original by Terry C. Johnson of Utah. I was just looking for a frame for my Peony painting when I found it, and about fell over backwards when I saw on the back was the label for its entry into the 1983 National Watercolor Society's annual exhibit.  All entries are by the society members and must be accepted by their high standards.  I have tried to find the artist, but she must have passed away.

We have about 5 big original treasures that we found like this and even a signed print by Andrew Wyeth.

If you have something amazing that you have found, please share!

Wow! You never know what you'll find, in the least expected places.
