I was very surprised that this actually sold and the buyer asked for another one similar to it.

I guess I'm surprised because it's a bug. I just did it on a whim. I think I'll paint more bugs.

You call a true mantis a BUG?

This is a painting of a Mantis, in attack position, or as you say, he's praying!

Congrats for selling this one. I loooooooooooooove bugs.. ehhh, insects. ;)

My husband didn't like it at all, but he doesn't like most of my paintings. He's a perfectionist. If it doesn't match a photo exactly then it's no good as far as he is concerned. I had to learn not to ask for his opinion.

I stopped telling everyone that if I want something that matches the photo perfectly, I would print the photo on a canvas.
When painting, I want a part of 'me' in the result. ;)

My mother did not think of me as an artist until I sold something. A week after she heard that I had sold a painting in our local gallery she asked me to do a painting for her, before that she was telling me in a round about way that there was no spare wall space for any paintings on her wall. :2funny:

just goes to show that if you thought it was good enough to paint, somebody will find it good enough to buy  O0
