  • Veni, vidi, velcro: I came, I saw, I stuck around

I was just about to turn off my tv after watching my weekly show on PBS (Masterpiece Mystery) when I saw that an intriguing short film was next. Staying up and watching it was the best thing I've done all week! Here's the blurb:

"A visual love letter from Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe and Emily Carr.

Bone Wind Fire is an intimate and evocative journey into the hearts, minds and eyes of three of the 20th century’s most remarkable artists.  Using the women’s own words, taken from their letters and diaries, the film reveals three individual creative processes in all their subtle and fascinating variety."

It was a dreamy journey through the eyes of these three artists...what they saw, what they wanted to communicate, how they chose their subjects. Only thoughts from their writings were other narration. It's a beautiful little film  It can be purchased on the filmmaker's website, and will probably be repeated on your local stations in the US and Canada. Catch it if you can.

It has renewed my resolve to continue the process of learning the basics of painting in the hope that one day I will able to find and express my own way of seeing the world.

Thanks, Judie

Bone Wind and Fire sounds like something worthwhile to watch.  Bless PBS.

You just mentioned my three of my favorite artists, Judie. That documentary must have been awesome. I will definitely check it out. If my local PBS doesn't air it, maybe I can get a copy of it through interlibrary loan.

It's too bad you live so far from New Mexico, where Georgia O'Keeffe's summer home is. It would have been nice to meet up with you there next month when I travel to the Ghost Ranch. I am SO looking forward to it!

Thanks so much for posting this!!
