I don't think you want to make too big a change in the light direction. The light on your tree trunk definately shows the light source coming from the right of the picture. It looks good.  O0 I'd build it from there.

 Denise.  Don't know how I missed this thread and your painting.  :o The revised painting looks better but I think you are troubled with the building itself.   It is all one tone and the front of the building needs to be darkened.  The roof is close to the sky color and I would punch that up too.  It is your focal point and too dull. Just my thoughts  :crazy2: .  That being said you did a fantastic job on that tree and fence ....wow.. :yippee:

Val, duh  :uglystupid2: , I forgot about the shadowing for my tree .....  :D

Mary Lou, thank you so much for the comments. I kept looking at the house and wondering but I stopped at just wondering ::)  So, I really appreciate your suggestions, I tweaked it and like it better.  :thankyou:

Very nice, Denise.  Tree really looks good and I am going to hope that the nice purple bush is a rhododendron.  It's one of my favorites, or I'd settle for an azalea (same family, I think).

Heep up the good work.

Denise, if the light is from the right then don't forget to add the shadow to the large side of the barn in order to show up the contrast against the right sunlit wall. At the moment both wall are exactly the same tone.

:thankyou: Dennis, I will darken the large side wall. I see what you mean ...  :)

Jennylynn:thankyou: . And yes, the advice is great. I would have lost out on improving this painting (and my others) if it weren't for all this helpful advice here on PB. It really encourages me to continue and have fun doing it. It's nice to accomplish things that you would not have imagined possible.
