Here's my painting meant for the May challenge but I finished too late. It's fine though as I learned a lot trying to put what I've learned into practice. I'm ok with it but it just looks a little "blah". Any suggestions for improvement? Thanks  :)

Looks nice, Denise. The tree trunk and the fence stand out to me - good shading! :)

Yes, Denise, I agree with the others -- the tree trunk is great.  I think the "blah"ness you think you have is that the leaves on your beautiful trunk are dull compared to the more vibrant trees in the background.  Kick 'em up a notch!

Other than that, I think it's a very good piece of work.

Guess it's kinda obvious that I enjoyed painting the trunk! ;D

Painting looks great Denise.   I really like how you put dark litle squares on the house to make it look like different colored bricks were used to build it.  And I really like the tree on the far right side, it looks very realistic.

  Hey Denise, I think your painting looks great.  Will look forward to seeing the "kicked up" leaves on the tree.  I'm glad to see Bob too!

Beautiful Denise.  I noticed this immediately.  I know what you mean in that I have produced some pieces that just need a little punch.  I find that darkening shadows or even adding some that weren't visible in the pic really pop the lighter areas.

    Oh! Denise, your painting is just too beautiful.  I agree with what everyone has said about your tree, it is gorgeous but then so is the rest of your painting too.  Patricia

I always really appreciate your comments and feedback :flowers:

I've punched up the tree top, I do think it looks better! Thank you Mea.
Lynn, I really think the shadows will help too, trying to decide where I would put them  :) The light is supposed to be coming from the right but I think it's so subtle right now that I could change it? .....

Denise,

The punched up tree looks so much better.  Now it's proud to be a tree.

Nice work.
