LESSON # 56 - Blue Gum Trees

Tried to finish this while the site was down...it's a hybrid Blue Gum!  You know how sometimes the colour just doesn't look right?...  ... the brush strokes aren't quite what you're looking for?...  ... and it just keeps getting bigger...and BIGGER? 

The photo has come out much brighter than the painting...willl try for a better shot tomorrow.

Val, your tree is very well done Be careful with the perspective of the road tracks - they get closer together as they disappear into the distance.

   Dennis, I need a kick in the butt every now and again to keep me in line.  You are such a wonderful role model and believe it or not, I do try and think "young".  Yes, I am privileged in many respects and I do count my blessings for when I look in the mirror and see these wrinkles, I am blessed, as many were not given that privilege. I have a ton to be grateful for but just need reminders every now and again.  So thanks Dennis!

Val!!!! This is beautifully painted. I love it! The light is amazing as is the hedge. I think your decision to leave out the birds and figure was a good one this time, though I like them in all the other paintings. Yours has such a sense of realism, that they might not have blended. I'll make my own story.

Actually, there is a bird....he is a bit small...but it's a BIG tree!

Val, I don't know what a bluegum is supposed to look like but this painting is just great (no lies I promise).  I agree that the realism is terrific as is the light.  Great job

Val....great job. Looks terrific and the colors are so warm n bright.  I like your 'big' tree....works just great in the picture, and your hedge turned out great.

Would you believe they were tapered just right..... and then they just dried that way?
