This VW looks just like my sister-in-laws so I wanted to paint it for her.  Is there anything you would suggest that I do to the background to make it look better?  My husband was wondering why I put it on a road when it is always parked in the garage.  I thought a garage was a lousy background.  Do you agree or disagree?

Cute!!! No, you wouldn't have the highlights so much if it were in a garage. Not in my garage anyway!

Peg

I get the feeling looking at it, that the horizon right at the centre of the painting and the angle of the road to the direction of the car's travel is a bit of an issue.

The V dub looks great, but looks like it has just been plonked in place in another painting. A bit like those photos of kids that get taken in shopping centres.

Maybe a house on the right in the background, or a lamp post or a distant hill etc???

Peg,
Great pic of the VW.  The highlights and details are dead on.   I drive a '79 VW Beetle Convertable everyday to work.  I love it.  I've had it for about 5 years now.   I agree w/Batman.  The road needs to be parallel with the car.  Maybe some trees or a fence in the right background to add more perspective?

Peg, I so love the buggy!  I've been wanting an old one to putz around in.  Use to have one backin the day.  It was fun!
