I have a question about fixative.  I bought some and I'd really like to protect my drawings from the course.  I watched Nolan's video about how to apply the fixative but it is unclear to me if this stuff will harm other surfaces.  If I spray my drawings on my craft table will it ruin the finish?  Should I apply it outside on some newspaper?  Where do you all apply fixatives to your drawings?

i read the back of the can which has a lot of scary warnings about flamibility, eye irritation, etc. but it has no instructions or precautions about possible damage to other surfaces.

Thanks

Carol

Good questions Carol. . . I too would like to protect some of my drawings, and would also like to find that video you mentioned where Nolan speaks about applying a fixative. . . . is it further along in the drawing class? If so, I'll just wait.

If this stuff is toxic, I'll have to wait until summer and do it outside, don't want my kitties to have to hold their noses!
I live to draw and paint, it a good thing that I don't have to draw and paint to live!

Hi Roxy!!!  Is your computer up and running?

Yes, the framing and preserving video is one of the last ones in the Let's Draw course.  It's very informative but doesn't cover the issues I've asked about.  I do know that fixative, at least the one I bought, is toxic.  I would keep your sweet kitties FAR from it.

if you are concerned about the surface of the table, then place newspaper down first

Thanks Nolan.  Duh.  I guess I have so much on my mind I don't think about the simple things  :idiot2: .
