:help:  When I was young my mom thought art was a waste of time.. after 37 years of teaching special needs I am now able to pursue my passion.  I always loved to draw so when I retired a friend (retired art teacher)  and took 20 hours from her.  I love her dearly but $$ and other issues are a problem.  So I was happy to find a place where I could learn from others with a vast knowledge, styles, and skill sets. I am not sure exactly how this all works... I have learned some basic things from my friend in acrylics and dabbled on my own with water colors.  I am feeling optomistic that I have found just the right place to be.   :thankyou:

:welcome:  01gamgam to the PB.  You have come to the right place and you won't be sorry, that I promise.  I have just started painting myself in fact, it is now 9 months since I started.  I never had the time with raising children, working etc and only pencil sketched very occasionally when I was younger but I have progressed in leaps and bounds with our fantastic tutors guiding me and our forum members helping me along and encouraging my every step.  I am so blessed as you will be too.  Patricia

:welcome:  gamgam!  Our Florida numbers are growing!  Which part are you from?  I am from the east coast, Lanie, from the west, I think,  Christina from the pan handle, and I think there are a few others floating around here somewhere.  I'm sure you will love it here... There are a lot of us who have found the time after retirement to pursue our dreams here.  That's what makes it fun!  No pressures!  Looking forward to seeing your work!

:bigwelcome:  01gamgam! Whatever stage you're at, there's something here for you. Also lots of help and support, and the best teaching around. The free lessons are there to get you started and give you a chance to try a number of mediums and find where your interests lie. I might just put a plug in for the 'Let's Draw' course as well. Its a fantastic way to get a good solid foundation for your painting skills. Come often and enjoy!  :yippee:

I live to draw and paint, it a good thing that I don't have to draw and paint to live!

:welcome:  01gamgam!  I, too, am retired, but not from Florida!!  I'm from across the US in Washington State.  I know you'll learn lots from Dennis and Nolan, and get lots of support and great pointers for the rest of the PB family.

Yes Gamgam, you have found the right place.  Not only is this high quality teaching but so reasonable in cost.  I too am here in part because painting workshops were $500 to $1000 each and I just can't do that.  Take some live classes as you will find those great with live commentary and questions from the crew here.  Really fun.  Glad you are here!!
