Hi everyone,

This is my first ever painting. I made this watercolour painting about 2 months ago. Please feel free to critique or give suggestions. Please also let me know the things (reading painting books or painting DVDs etc) that can make me learn more about painting.

Please  :help: :help: :help:

:bigwelcome: to the site Funartist

Not bad at all for a first painting, I can see that you already grasp the concept the highlights and shadows which many experienced artists still struggle with so you are off to a flying start. I quite like your interpretation of the roses themselves.

There is heaps of info on the site that will get you going, especially on the forum and in the Online Art Classes menu at the top of your screen.

Your main mission at this point is to learn the various shading techniques, so I suggest you start off with the How to paint Cosmos Flowers tutorial in the Watercolor Tutorials section of the site. That should get you going with the shadings.

Were abouts in the world do you live?

:gl2: and looking forward to seeing your art progress O0

Hello Funartist... :welcome: I know you will find the answers you seek here, and if not just ask. Dennis and Nolan are wizards! I hve improved  exponentially not only in drawing and painting through their guidance, but also in knowledge of materials. Other members are extremely supportive as well. Best of luck  :gl2:

Great job! You're off to a good start. That's the most important part.
