My cross hatched cup.  I've really struggled with cross hatching this week. any suggestions, or critiques welcome .   This was done with .5 mechanical pencil, my own cup.  Oh I've been posting on the Pencil Drawing Classes , just realized I should of been posting here. ;D  C&O

Yes, Don, cross-hatching is quite the challenge.  I try to avoid it if at all possible, but it still is important to know how to do.

For some reason, your darkest darks look like they are painted on, rather than drawn with very close-together hatch lines.  Or maybe I am just optically-deluded again.

I found this cartoon a few years ago that takes a light-hearted approach to cross-hatching.

I am happy with your cross hatched cup Donnie :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

You have the shadings all nicely in place O0

The shadow cast by the cup should however be darkest next to the cup and lighter as it moves away from the cup to get good depth in that area so just remember that for next time O0

Thanks for all the comments and support, I sure learned a lot this pass couple of months.  I remember trying to draw as a young teenager there was no one that could show me the simplest  of things.  Now  days anyone with a internet connection can find excellent instruction and support.   Happy Camper C&O
