Hi all
I joined this site yesterday and been checking things out.. Great art site that's for sure. I just an old hippie that painted for a while then quit and now just starting back. Yes that's me with the 'fur' Keeps my face warm.. I am 73 years old, widowed, wife passed 10 years ago..

I tried oils , acrylics and watercolour but and the end of it watercolour for me is IT !!
Quite a few great artists on the web site I must say.. Very enjoyable.

I do hope to pick up a few pointers here and there. After looking a few things I see there is a lot to pick up !! And maybe I can help someone but I don't know a whole lot ;-)

I posted half a dozen or so paintings I have done a few years back. Hope you  like them.

Have a good one all !!

:bigwelcome:   Hello and greetings from the PB crew! I would be the quiet one hopping about in the back  ;)

I have had a boo in your gallery and WOW, that's some brilliant stuff back there.  O0   I think there is quite a bit you can help us with. I have been rather lax the past while with my w/c, but working on getting back with it and hopefully combining it with my pastels.

If you post your original paintings in the encourager section under watercolour you will get lots of feedback on your work. Looking forward to seeing much more. Any lessons post them in the w/c lessons section under the appropriate lesson title.

Should you have any queries or need a hand, just sing out and someone will be about to lend a hand. Good to have you here Johnnie. Fun times are ahead!  :yippee:      :painting:

I used to live on the north side of the lake!  :cold:
Cheers, Val

Hi Johnnie,
Happy you found us.  You will be happy here.  Great international artists community, and best classes ever!!!  It is not possible to not learn here.

Checked your gallery.  Great painting... why did you put the brush down (not really asking, none of business ☺ )

We are quite a number of Canucks around here... from East to West.  So nice you join us and looking forward to see more of your work.

Yes post each of your painting in the WC encourager sections, you are more likely to get reviews.

Cheers, Annie

Hi Everyone..

Tnx for the nice welcome's  .. Appreciate that for sure

Will get this out of the way... I quit due to the passing of my wife. I painted for a while but other things , drugs, booze got in the way and slowly took me over then I quit my art, music,
'I am a musician play guitar, piano, blues harp, pedal steel, violin, and 2 string Chinese violin.. '  The pictures I posted were from 2003 to 2011 or there about.  I don't remember much of it anymore .. try to forget and still to this day..   Someone asked.. There you are !!

Anyway.. Yes thanks again.

I have poked around on here and I find it absolutely amazing the content and friendliness of folks on here.

I trying to do watercolour portrait work looking for stuff along those lines. More or less putting everything together.

?? tho.. Where do I go on internet to watch the LIVE lessons? if its still going on?  Time , Url, Topic.. etc  tnx

Nice hearing from you all.. Take care

Johnnie

Hi Johnnie,
I am sorry to hear of the passing of your wife, and I do understand the turmoil that followed.

You have talent and paintbasket can give you motive, inspiration, new goals, a social life with artist-friends, and... oh ya, almost forgot... lessons to improve and expand your paintings.

The lessons can be purchase individually on this website (currently $6 for a typical 2h lesson packed with detailed education), or you can join the yearly membership and access all the lessons/classes for a nominal fee at:
onlineartlessons.com

Contact Nolan of you need help or have questions.  He is truly wonderful and will walk anyone thru the software if needed.

Don't give up.  You can honor your wife memory thru your art.
Cheers, Annie

Johnnie.

To send Nolan a Message, click http://www.paintbasket.com/members/index.php?action=profile;u=54.  Click on ACTIONS, then SEND PERSONAL MESSAGE.

Later check the top of the PB FORUM page for MY MESSAGES - Click READ YOUR MESSAGES,  that's where you can find Nolan's answer.  I have sent you a trial message, so you can see where to look.

 :welcome: Johnnie.
You will love this group.
I understand your pain. My daughter was killed by a drunk driver at age 24 in 2012 on her birthday.
I was so lost and felt so alone, but tried to be strong for the rest of the family, including my husband who has gone blind over the last 15 years.
I finally thought I would try to paint. Having NEVER picked up a paint brush, I started our joining Paintbasket and did a few of Nolan and Dennis’ lessons.
That was in September 2015.
I was so encouraged and given so much invaluable advice from everyone on here.
Last year, I sold 18 paintings. I fell so blessed that I found Paintbasket.
You will not regret joining.
I wish you all the best.

:welcome: Particularly like the subtlety of Misty Morning. Hard to be that subtle in acrylic sometimes. I'm sure you are going to be an asset to our group!
PS: In Australia, outdoors men wear fur to prevent sunburn! As a female I much prefer fur to stubble!
