Today's initial practice was one-stroke leaves. Utter disaster.

Then I tried a hydrangea in oil on masonite. Am very pleased with it. Used mostly all phthalo turqoise and white for the petals.

Am quite please with it.  May try more on small stretched canvases - some more close up.

Suggestions??  (I have quite a few, but will give you first crack at it.)

Yes, Win.  When I looked at the photo, I thought that, too.  Although, the original actually has more darks.

Love the colour Mea. Are you going to do more work on the green leaf ?

Not knowing oils I cannot comment other than as said, the darks. Too busy getting the W/C together for other mediums at this time.

Cath, thanks.  No, that was just a practice piece on a board.  I do not intend to do more except continue to analyze it.

For a practice piece, this is quite good. I do hope you'll redo it as a REAL piece. A few more darks to accentuate the pedals and a little more definition on the leaf, and you're good to go!
Cheers,
Sharon

Mea, I think that this Hydrangea is beautiful. I love the colour and with the tweaks mentioned, it will be even more beautiful.  Patricia

Thanks, Patricia and Sharon.  While I may not do anymore on this little practice piece, I do intend to do a series of larger ones to take back to Massachusetts this summer as gifts for my friends.

Good practice piece, love the colour. I am in awe of your experimental endeavours.
The only thing that bothers me is the stem,  just one more flower over the start of it where it comes out of the flowerhead, as it doesn't look attached just put on top.

Thanks, TeresaM.  I love experimenting.  Yes, I need a lot of work on leaves.
