Post your drawing for January 2018 Challenge here.

1/ Post only one drawing per person. Post only your finished drawing. If you need help, post it in the encourager section.

2/ Do your best to keep your entry as close as possible to the original Challenge photo. Please DO NOT make additions to the subject unless otherwise stated. We try to maintain a fair and equal field for all entries from beginner to advanced.
Feel free to use the subject photos in your own creation BUT place it in the Encourager section, NOT in the challenge. Thank you for your ongoing support of these challenges.

3/ Any SINGLE dry drawing medium may be used....Graphite, Coloured Pencil (lead), Charcoal, or Ink may be used. If it is not specifically listed, DON'T USE IT! If you are unsure, PM me directly.

4/ When posting your entry, please list type of pencil used. Not mandatory, but appreciated as it may help someone with less experience.

5/ HAVE FUN !!!     :gl2:

Well I will be the 1st to post my colour pencil drawing of Val's photo. This was done in my Holcroft sketch diary A4 225gsm with Faber-Castell polychromos. This has stirred up my  RSI trying to block in the water. I have coloured and blended until the paper can't take any more as the layers keep lifting off. Learning to use these pencils. Also the paper was too rough a surface as it was showing up all marks and indentations I didn't want.

Despite the challenges with the paper I think you've done a marvelous job!  O0 Right down to the two cornflakes slowly sinking!!!  :heeha:

There are a pair of these geese that come by the back of the boat every morning and honk and hiss until I come out with a handful for them!  :2funny:

    Teresa, you have done a WONDERFUL job on the goose.  So lovely to see despite the problems with the paper.

Val, I loved hearing about the pair of geese that come by every morning for their food.  Much like the birds and bunnies that frequent our porch for the handouts we supply for them. I feel so bad for them with all the snow lying around so we clear our decks and put food out for them.  What shocks me is that the bunnies come out to eat in the evenings when it is dark. Didn't realise that they were nocturnal. We live and learn.

This has come out extremely well, Teresa! I expecially like the colourings of the water.

Thank you Gita and Bill.
Just started watching a lesson I bought on colour pencils and wished I had watched it before I attempted this picture as I used the colours like one uses watercolour ie light to dark instead of the other way around. Well at least I know for next time    :D

Extremely well done! You've not only captured the duck quite well but I was impressed with your treatment of the water. Not only did you capture the movement of the ripples but the depth of the water. Again, extremely well done!

 :thankyou: "artisforsaleorrent" for your comments.

All these comments mean a great deal to me  as I have only found the love and frustration of painting these last 2 years. I had not even tried to draw or paint before this.
I just wish my sister was still alive to see and guide me as she was an accomplished artist.
