Ray, I hope you don't mind but I have taken the liberty of inserting your Leopard drawing for you, as it doesn't seem to be in the Pastel Section.  It is magnificently done and you have really excelled.  Great job.  Patricia

Wow, Ray, that is a fabulous leopard.  Even the background enhances it.  Great eyes, ears, nose, whiskers, fur.

Masterfully done (and I don't say that very often.)

Hi this painting of a Leapard was done on Pastelmat using Pastel Pencils
Pastelmat has a lovey feel to it and you have to work the pastels into the
grain, I hope you like it any critique would be very welcome.

Hi Ray, I merged the two topics into one to keep everything in one place. Glad I spotted your post, I was about to ask what ground you had used. I had hope to try the pastelmat, but none was available. Hoping to find some up in Mexico come April.

Any insights you'd care to pass on regarding the Pastelmat? Have you tried any soft pastels with it?
Cheers, Val

HI Val thank you for your encouraging comment as regards to using soft pastels on Pastelmat yes I have used them and they do come up really good but with the pastelmat it does have an abrasive coat that it eats up soft pastel very quickly I would recommend to use a hard pastel, that’s why I use pastel pencils but they to can be a bit soft, so I usually use a mixture and if you do anything wrong you can simply wash off the pastels from the pastelmat and start all over again, I do hope you can get some pastelmat in Mexico if not let me know and I will forward you some if you let me know your following address I can get it in various colours here in the UK. Hope that helps.  :)
Kindest regards
Ray

Ray, you are too lovely for words!  :-*    I so appreciate the thought and offer, but I have contacted a stationery come art supply shop in Guadalajara, via a somewhat stilted spanish conversation (  ::) oy!), and it sounds like they may have some pastelmat! At least he understood 'pasteles' !  :2funny: When we get back to Guat. I'll have one of my compadres call to verify. Thank you so much for the offer.

Cheers, Val

No problem Ray, it was my pleasure to post your Leopard for I didn't see it in this section for the longest time and thought that it was so good and would be lovely for all to see and comment.
