Getting ready to make Christmas cards.

Painted Beach Glass Angels and Christmas Ornaments.  They are done in my new favorite style - crumpled paper.

Am going to do this with my senior citizen class this week.  Will post what we do.

Mea, I am so exited to try out new things with this technique! I glued translucent glassine bag paper from the bakery ( wax side glued to paper) on 160 gsm paper.
Painting was a lot easier this time. Drawing with ink went well, too. Do tell me your opinion to this!

Mea, this is fun! 😃. I love the crumpled texture of the paper.

Gita,

I am honored that you have tried the crumpled paper technique.  I love the whimsical cat Christmas card.

I checked out your dancer.  She is lovely.

It's great that you tried something other than tracing paper, so that may encourage others to experiment further.

I changed the name of the thread to say "Mea and Her PB Friends Try the Crumpled Paper Technique."  Hope more will post theirs here.

No, Gita, I have not used gouache in a while now.  You know me, I change art favorites like most people change bedsheets.  Every week something new.

I am putting the dancer painting in this thread, Mea. I tried this with the topmost layer of a paper napkin and glued it on 300 g paper. The background was easy to paint but the dancer was a bit tough to paint with water colour. So I switched to acrylic and I am still working on the face and the shading of the body. Love this crumpled paper technique  :yippee:

Mea, I like your ornaments especially, and Gina I really like your cat.  This technique reminds me of a painting I saw using rice paper only this seems so much easier to get a similar look.  Can't wait to try it.

Didn't you know, Gita, that Santa has  wife, Merry Christmas, who probably does the laundry, 'cos I suspect old Santa is a traditional male chauvinist. I don't envy whoever washes the clothes up there in the North Pole, be it Merry or the elves. It must be hell trying to get that heavy fur trimmed suit dry in a far northern winter.
